Before making a transfer please make sure that a target service is accepting Ethereum ETC. Most of the services use different addresses for ETC and for ETH, therefore make sure receiving address belongs to ETC chain, not ETH, otherwise money could be lost. Many exchanges support only ETH, at this case you shouldn't not send ETC to the deposit address to avoid loss of the coins.

If you have access to that address, say in ETH chain, you can import it into a ETC compatible wallet and get access to your coins (see Money transferred to ETH address instead of ETC and Open ETC address with MyEtherWallet)
